Carmela Lane

Born in the south of Brazil, Carmela Lane moved to New York City at 23 to pursue a career in fashion and costume design, graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2006. While still in school, she interned in the fashion closet at Harper's Bazaar and trained in the Anna Sui sample room, building a foundation in couture-level construction.

Film and music have shaped her creative language from the start — Ken Russell's Tommy sparked her early visual imagination, and the cinematic worlds of Wes Anderson, John Hughes, Baz Luhrmann, Cameron Crowe, and Jean-Luc Godard continue to inform her work today.

In 2011, Carmela founded 26 Stars, a creative studio producing high-fashion, avant-garde, and custom-made costumes for live performance, experiential events, and private clients. Her work has included tailoring for Beyoncé, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, and Cardi B; six years designing for Joffrey Ballet's The Nutcracker; wardrobe supervision for Chanel activations including Métiers d'Art; and film and television credits such as Killers of the Flower Moon and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She has also served as personal costumer to James Spader on The Blacklist.

Carmela's work sits at the intersection of fashion, performance, and storytelling — where craftsmanship meets spectacle, and clothing becomes part of the narrative itself.
